Born on Maui, Sean spent much of his childhood building an affinity with the ocean and its powerful and dynamic flow, which continues to inspire his yoga practice in Seattle. Sean is a father of two, software engineer, autism awareness advocate, and lover of travel. Sean came to yoga after years of chronic back pain that prevented him from sleeping. 15+ years of sitting in front of a computer created what Sean lovingly calls “desk damage.” Years of physical therapy, massage, and chiropractic all helped, but he still woke up in pain during the night. Within weeks of practicing yoga, Sean’s back was liberated in a way he didn’t know was possible, enabling restful sleep, a sharpened mind, improved body awareness, and improved patience to take on life’s challenges. He’s fallen in love with the practice and the community who shares it with him.
Sean is inspired by yoga teachers all over the world, but has taken his practice to new heights while studying under Patrick Beach, Carling Harps, Mackenzie Miller, Phillip Askew, and Elvis Garcia. Sean completed his Vinyasa focused 200-hour yoga teacher certification with Tiffany Cruikshank and Yoga Medicine, a community of expert yoga teachers focused on fusing the best of anatomy and western medicine with the traditional practice of yoga. Sean describes his classes as a playful tension between strength and ease.
