Alison’s motto has always been “lead from the heart.” Through authentic connection, Alison believes we can all live a more joyful life. She brings this philosophy to her teaching where she creates challenging and playful sequences, yet interweaves thought-provoking inquiry into every sweaty class.
Deep down, Alison is an alignment and anatomy nerd. She instructs mindful and functional movement, with the aim of helping people move better in their bodies. She will teach you how perfecting your chaturanga is the first step in landing the arm balance of your dreams, and then happily guide you through numerous ways to release those tired shoulder muscles.
Alison has traveled the world (she was born in the Seychelles); she worked in the non-profit sector and even covered breaking news stories as a TV reporter. But in following her own advice, her heart led her to the important work of teaching yoga in early 2012, a mere decade after she first stepped onto a yoga mat.
Before moving to Seattle, Alison was a yoga teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area. She has studied extensively with Baron Baptiste, trained in the Yoga Tune Up methodology, and as a perpetual student, she continues to be inspired by numerous asana and meditation teachers. Aside from teaching studio classes, Alison leads international yoga retreats, teaches private yoga sessions, and spends her weekends watching her kids’ play every sport under the sun (or rain).
